Grace Life Ministries works with pastors in the state of Orissa, India. The pastors are tribal (no caste) workers whose congregations are very poor. Often the pastor must depend on his farm land or other industry skills to supplement his income. Grace Life Ministries by providing training in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, cottage industry skills, and grants for industry development. GLM helps with the building of churches and provides Bibles, Sunday School materials, and other Christian literature, as well as musical instruments and church floor mats. GLM has provided emergency medical aid, mosquito netting, bicycles, and conferences for spiritual refreshment.
Sponsors are needed to provide the pastors with ongoing financial aid as they minister under very tough circumstances in Orissa, a state with a history for violent persecution of Christians by radical Hindus. Some pastors and church members have lost their homes and several church buildings have been destroyed. Funds are badly needed to restore these. Sponsorship funds for the pastors are not distributed individually in order to avoid unequal distribution where some have more than others and not according to need. Instead, the resources are pooled and after an assessment of the needs of each pastor and congregation has been made, provision is supplied accordingly.
Sponsors receive a profile and regular updates with encouragement to pray for their pastor. If they wish, they may also send letters and photos care of GLM.
